Yes — completely. Every feature is free: 3D previews, video export up to 4K, the route planner, music, photo stories and more. There is no subscription and no payment method required.
Do I need a Strava account?
No. You can upload a GPX file or plan a new route without any account. Connecting Strava is optional — it only imports your activities with read-only access and never writes anything.
What can I upload?
GPX files, which you can export from Garmin, Apple Watch, Strava, Komoot, Wahoo and most GPS apps. Need help exporting one? There's a step-by-step guide linked on the home screen.
What video formats can I export?
MP4 video in vertical (9:16) for Stories and Reels, square (1:1), or landscape (16:9) — with optional built-in royalty-free music, an intro card and a stats card.
Can I plan a route from scratch?
Yes. The free route planner lets you draw running, cycling or hiking routes anywhere on the map, snapped to real paths, with live distance, an elevation profile and estimated time. You can save routes and export them as GPX.
Is my GPS data private?
Yes. Your GPS data and Strava access token are processed entirely in your browser and are never stored on our servers. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Which browser works best?
RouteRewind needs WebGL and works best in a recent Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox on a device with a decent GPU. Video recording works best in Chrome or Edge. The app auto-detects your hardware and picks a graphics quality, which you can change anytime in Settings.
The preview runs slowly — what can I do?
Open Settings → Graphics Quality and choose Performance or Balanced. Lower quality reduces resolution and effects for smoother playback on older hardware.
