RouteRewind

Guide · Strava to 3D video

A 3D flyover of your Strava activity.

Strava shows your route on a flat map. RouteRewind flies a camera along it over real 3D terrain and buildings and gives you a video sized for Stories, Reels or YouTube. You don’t connect your Strava account; you bring the file.

Export the activity from Strava

01
Open the activity on strava.com
This works in a computer browser and in a phone browser. You can only export your own activities.
02
Open the ⋯ menu
It is the three-dot button near the top of the activity page.
03
Choose Export GPX
The file downloads straight away. Export Original also works and gives you the FIT file your device recorded, heart rate included.

The Strava phone app sometimes hides the export option. When it does, open strava.com in your phone’s browser and follow the same steps.

Make the video

04
Open the file in RouteRewind
Go to routerewind.com, press Upload a GPX file and pick the file you just downloaded. The ride or run type is read from the file.
05
Preview, then download
Pick a camera and a duration, press Preview, and when you like it press Download Video. Post the MP4 to your Strava activity, Instagram or wherever you like.

Routes work too

Strava routes you have planned export the same way (Export GPX on the route page). They have no times, so the flyover runs at an even pace. If you haven’t planned it yet, the route planner in RouteRewind draws running, cycling and hiking routes on real roads and trails.
